Blue Global Canada Institute (BGCI) is a non-profit research and development platform focused on sustainably deploying Canadian blue economy expertise and capabilities across the ocean and marine value chain in emerging markets and developing economies — for shared prosperity.

BCGI’s vast network and deep connections in the commercial, science, policy, technology, and development finance communities across Canada and overseas remain a major asset. Using a wide range of approaches, we support ocean and marine policy innovation, skills development and capacity building, venture development, resource mobilization, and technology solutions to help unlock the full potential of the blue economy.

BGCI takes an interdisciplinary approach to research and knowledge exchange across the ocean and marine innovation value chain. We leverage global blue economy best practices and Canada’s vast research and innovation capabilities to assist emerging markets and developing economies in achieving environmentally responsible, commercially profitable, and socially acceptable outcomes across their ocean systems.
